Navigation
Fiordos y Glaciares
We will depart from The Singular’s dock on route to Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. Navigation will take us throughout fjords and eventually to sea lion colonies. After one hour and 30 minutes, we will disembark at Parque Nacional Bernardo O’Higgins for a short trek to the glacier’s view point. Later, we return to the vessel to slowly navigate in front of Balmaceda glacier to admire its natural beauty. We will continue navigation to an Estancia to enjoy a typical patagonian lunch. Horseback riding or trekking to follow in the surroundings.
Tradiciones Locales
This excursion is specially recommended to those who would like to live an authentic patagonian experience by meeting the gauchos and enjoying the typical gastronomical and equine activities of the area. We will navigate from the hotel to the Estancia. Horseback riding, trekking or simply talking to the locals will be part of the activities. An “asado al palo” (patagonian barbeque) will be served and afterwards we will learn about the sheep shearing process along with how they spin the wool in this austral zone of the continent.
Kayaking
Laguna Sofia
We will depart from the hotel towards Pingo Salvaje, a beautiful valley, whose origin was a glacier, is where Laguna Sofia lies. Here will be the start of our rowing. As we advance in our kayaks we will find black-necked swans, wild geese, ducks and the imposing condors gliding between hills.
Canal Senoret
Rowing through the Canal Señoret waters is recommended for those who dare to kayak for the very first time. We will settle in front of the hotel, then row for 1 or 2 hours and depending on the direction of the winds, we will continue towards Puerto Natales or Puerto Condor. From the bay, we will have a beautiful panoramic view of The Singular Patagonia.
Hiking
Sendero del Agua
We will enter Torres del Paine National park from Estancia Lazo, on the banks of Laguna Verde. We will start our trekking through a quiet trail which will unveil panoramic views of Macizo Paine, walking between lakes and lenga forests, where we will stop for lunch. We will continue towards the view point at Lago Toro to enjoy unbeatable views of the Paine Towers.
Caminata de los colonos
This 2.5 mile hike is ideal for those who would like to learn more about the history of the Magellan region. We will walk from Puerto Prat, a small rural settlement founded in 1899 and first village of the Ultima Esperanza Province, towards Puerto Consuelo on the banks of the Eberhard fjord and whose fields harbor a strong history of sovereignty and social development. Here we will enjoy the views of large mountain cords and the Paine Towers.
Vestigios Cerro Benitez
We will do a soft hike through the caves and eaves of the Monumento Natural Cueva del Milodón, one of the oldest and most important archeological sites of Southern Patagonia. This is 25 km from Puerto Natales, where traces of human presence over 11,000 years B.P were found. We will visit the main cave which is 200m deep, as well as a private reserve, crossing through rocky eaves and cave paintings from the Aonikenk indigenous people.
Caminata Condores
We will hike to Cerro Benitez, a cliff of nesting condors that is part of the palenteological site that houses the Monumento Nacional Cueva del Milodón, 35km from Puerto Bories. After one hour and 30 minutes we will reach the summit where we will be able to observe the imposing presence and flight of the austral condors as well as spotting Laguna Sofia, and Eberhard and Ultima Esperanza fjords.
Trekking
Base Torres del Paine
This trek is ideal for those who wish to be challenged by a demanding hike to reach the closest point of the famous Torres del Paine. The path takes approximately 4 hours, starting at Valle Ascencio, continuing through Monte Almirante Nieto until reaching Refugio Chileno. The trek proceeds through forests of nothofagus and finishes at the base of the Towers. If the weather conditions allows us, we will enjoy the splendor of the central, north and south towers.
Sierra Dorotea
We will begin our 15km trek to Sierra Dorotea walking across old cattle fields, surrounded by lenga and nirre forests, where we will find marine fossils. We will also see the other side of the border with Argentina. At the end of the trip, we will enjoy a panoramic view of Puerto Natales and most likely spot condores flying above us.
Cerro Senoret
This trek is highly demanding and travels through an unexplored route in Patagonia. We will ascend through a dense forest inhabited by a large diversity of birds and vegetation, with no trail, difficult access and interesting geological formations. After 4 hours hike, and if the weather conditions allows us, we will reach the summit and enjoy a panoramic view of the Ultima Esperanza province, along with the city of Rio Turbio in Argentina and the spectacular Macizo del Paine and the Grey Glacier.
Fly Fishing
Pesca con Mosca
This is a great option for fishermen with some experience who are looking for a personalized adventure challenging Patagonia’s conditions. It is said that the ancient settlers saw in this territory (that travels 200km between green forests and pampa), a great opportunity to introduce salmonoid fish, a voracious species which found its home in the present scenario and is now an ideal location for fly fishing. The species that can be found vary from rainbow trout, atlantic, coho and king salmon and chinook (between December and February).
Horseback Riding
Laguna Sofia
This is a horseback excursion lasting approximately 2 hours that ventures through valleys, knolls, lenga and nirre forests trails, visiting caves where remains of prehistoric animals (3.900 years) were found. We will also see Cerro Benitez and the condors that overfly it.
Cerro Ballena
We will cross the Canal Señoret to arrive at Estancia Bahia Esperanza where we will start our 8 km horseback ride towards Cerro Ballena. During the ride we will enjoy beautiful views of the fjords and glaciers from the Southfield.
Bahia Esperanza
We will disembark at Estancia Bahia Esperanza to begin an easy horseback ride. The ride crosses the Estancia from north to south through lush forests and open fields. Ultima Esperanza and Eberhard fjords will be seen, as well as Puerto Natales.
Biking
Bicicleta en Estancia
We will navigate across Canal Señoret towards Estancia Bahia Esperanza, where we will take our bicycles to start the ride towards the south. We will enjoy beautiful views from Puerto Natales, Cerro Dorotea and on clear days, Torres del Paine. We will descend to the grounds of the Estancia, on the same route that pioneers followed in search of cattle.
Cuevas del Milodon
20km from the hotel is the Monumento Natural Cueva del Milodón, an archeological site that protects caves and eaves that were inhabited by the megafauna and patagonian tribes, and where human remains were found dating back to 11.000 years B.P. We will pass caves and eaves through forests, fields and rock riding on easy routes.
Cultural
Puerto Natales
The excursion starts by the costanera bordering the Canal Señoret towards the city center where we will stop at the Main Plaza, the Municipal building and the church, built during the cattle fever in the Magellan region. We will also visit the Historical Museum where we will learn more about the history of the area, the handicraft market and the small town of Puerto Bories.
Frigorifico Bories
The Singular Patagonia was built at the former Frigorífico Puerto Bories, which was declared a National Monument. In the transit areas of the hotel, antique machinery is still visible. This tour allows you to relive the history that gave origin in 1915 to the Sociedad Explotadora Tierra del Fuego, which became the most important cold storage plant in the Chilean-Argentinean Patagonia. You will visit the boiler rooms, condensers, blacksmith, turnery and the dock that served hundreds of ships for the exportation of the products such as meat, fat, skin and wool.
Clases de cocina
Our Executive Chef will take us through an entertaining cooking class where he will teach us, step by step, the making off king crab and lamb empanadas. Making, stretching and cutting the dough, along with preparing the fillings and baking is part of the experience. Afterwards, we will taste them all accompanied by Chilean awarded wines. Cheers!
Scenic
Parque Nacional Torres del Paine
This trip is recommended for those who would like to visit the spectacular views of the world’s 8th wonder in one day. Mainly operating as a photo safari, we will stop at several viewpoints to observe the Macizo del Paine, the colourful Nordenskjöld, Sarmiento, Pehoé Lakes and Laguna Azul, as well as seeing native animals such as nandus, foxes and guanacos. We will also do short hikes visiting the Salto Grande and the Laguna Azul surroundings for views of the Paine Towers.
